Design the World of Seussical Jr!

Production Design Easter School

Open to ages 10-18

This two-day Easter School invites young creatives to explore the exciting world of theatre production design as we prepare for our upcoming production of Seussical Jr. Participants will discover how designers bring a show to life through sets, props, costumes and visual storytelling, and will take part in hands-on creative workshops inspired by the colourful and imaginative world of Dr Seuss.

Participants will explore areas such as:

  • Set and stage design

  • Prop making

  • Costume and character design

  • How production teams collaborate behind the scenes

This workshop is perfect for young people who love theatre, art, design and making things, and offers a fantastic opportunity to explore the creative side of theatre beyond performance. It is particularly suited to students who enjoy drawing, crafting, building, problem solving, or imagining new worlds.

No previous experience is required – just creativity, curiosity and a willingness to get stuck in.

About our Summer/Easter Schools

Each year, our Easter and Summer Schools offer an exciting range of holiday workshops designed for young performers aged 4-18. With a variety of immersive, themed experiences, students can explore new skills, build confidence, and have fun in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Workshops change each year, but past favourites have included:
🎭 Play in a Week – where students rehearse and perform a full production in just four days!
🎬 Acting for Camera – exploring on-screen acting techniques and working on filmed scenes.
🎶 Musical Theatre Intensives – themed around hit musicals like Six, or inspired by beloved stories like The Worst Witch.

Most workshops culminate in a performance for friends and family, giving students the chance to showcase their creativity and hard work in our Bath Street Studio Theatre. Sessions are led by a mix of regular and guest tutors, offering a high-quality experience while remaining at a low price point to ensure accessibility.

With two-day and four-day options available, our holiday schools are the perfect opportunity for young performers to learn, grow, and have an unforgettable experience—whether they’re trying something new or taking their skills to the next level.
