Creative Development Programme X National Theatre Connections

The Manhattan Project by by Rasmus Lindberg (translated by Edward Buffalo Bromberg)

AGES 14-18

Audition Date: Saturday 31st October 2026

Time : 4PM - 7PM

We’re looking for bold, curious and creative young actors to audition for GAA’s 2027 production of The Manhattan Project, as part of National Theatre Connections.

National Theatre Connections is one of the UK’s biggest celebrations of new theatre made by and for young people. Each year, the National Theatre commissions brand-new plays for young companies across the UK to rehearse, develop and perform as part of the programme.

This year, GAA will be taking on: THE MANHATTAN PROJECT by Rasmus Lindberg (translated by Edward Buffalo Bromberg).

Our company will rehearse and develop the production at GAA, before performing it at Glasgow Acting Academy and at the Beacon Arts Centre in Greenock as part of the National Theatre Connections programme.

Auditions are open for young performers aged 14–18 who are excited to challenge themselves, explore new writing, work as part of an ensemble and contribute creatively to the rehearsal process. We’re looking for potential, commitment, imagination, curiosity and a willingness to learn.

You do not need to be a current student at Glasgow Acting Academy to apply.

This production will also mark the launch of GAA’s newly reimagined Creative Development Programme.

Formerly our Class of Merit, the programme has been reworked and rebranded to better reflect what we want this strand of GAA to offer our older students. The Creative Development Programme is designed for young people who are ready to deepen their commitment to their creative development - developing their craft, challenging themselves and taking greater creative ownership of the work they make.

We want to support the development of not only actors, but young creatives: performers who are curious about how theatre is made, who bring ideas into the room, are committed students and want to develop their own artistic voice.

Taking part in The Manhattan Project and National Theatre Connections will form a major part of this year’s Creative Development Programme.

Ready to make bold work, challenge yourself and develop your creative voice? We’d love to see you in the room.
